Toy Story 3 is a hit in the United States and most international territories, but it's a bomb in Russia, the Los Angeles Times reports.
In its first ten days in release the Pixar feature took in less than $5 million at Russian box offices. That compares to the $38 million that Shrek Forever After grossed in its first ten days and the $35 million collected by Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
The newspaper speculates that adult audiences—for whom this threequeal is the first serious exposure to the Toy Story universe—are put off by the kid-centric subject matter, while children have been bustled out of the metropolitan areas due to a recent heat wave.

So Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 have not been released in Russia? Or rather, it wasn't that popular in Russia when it was released? My jaw dropped when I read the title of this topic then that Shrek and Ice Age made loads more than a Pixar movie. Not to say that they're bad movies, it's just totally unexpected.

Well, the movie is still the number one animated film ever, and it already made its money back, so no worries.
