Announced at Comic Con last weekend, there will be a new haunted mansion movie based on the attraction, with Guillermo Del Toro in charge! This could be epic!

This sounds amazing and promising! The first movie was cool, but an epic Haunted Mansion movie should definitely be scary as opposed to funny.

I like the fact that they are doing this, but at the same time I'm worried that people will associate the movie's storyline with the actual attractions storyline. One thing I love about the attraction is there is no concrete storyline. Do you think the film will change your thoughts on the actual attraction? Did it for Pirates?

I don't think it will change my thoughts on the attraction, it didn't for Pirates of the Caribbean, they are both too amazing to change my view of them

I'm excited for the new Haunted Mansion movie. I thought the one they did with Eddie Murphy wasn't that great. I have high hopes for this one!

I might be the only one here, but I actually really enjoyed the Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy, I mean I know it wasn't a great movie but I still bought it on dvd.

The Eddie Murphy one wasn't great, but I still do watch it on occasion. It's pretty good.

I was not a huge fan of the Eddie Murphy version, but it was entertaining and I thought that Jennifer Tilly did a good job as Madame Leota. That being said I am excited about the Del Toro version. He is a huge fan of the attraction and even has an entire room in his house dedicated to it. He has also said that the Hatbox Ghost will most likely be the main villain for the movie. This gives me even higher hopes that they make actually put him into the attraction now. It gives them a good enough reason if the film goes over as well as PotC did.
Also, a little side note. I am a huge movie geek and have always wondered if anyone else thought that the Hatbox Ghost and Lon Chaney's character from the lost silent film London After Midnight look eerily similar. You be the judge.

Like everyone else has stated already, I am not a big fan of the Eddie Murphy movie, but it is good enough that it can be enjoyed when you are in the right mind set. I like Jennifer Tilly as Madame Leota (I admit I have a bit of a crush on her... :3 ), and some of the scenes are spectacularly creepy.
That being said, I can't wait to see this new version. But wasn't Guillermo del Toro fired from this project, or am I thinking of something else? Anyways, I LOVE Del Toro's Hellboy movies.
