Do you guys feel Disney should do more hand drawn animation or should they stick with computer generated animation? please explain your answers.

I think there's room enough for both. The problem is too many people associate "Disney = Hand Drawn Animation" that when Disney always tried other things (like CGI), there wasn't always as much support, as the general public had grown to always associate Disney with hand drawn animation. Any deviation from that norm usually was not welcomed with open arms immediately.

I agree escapay, there is room for both. I do feel that they have gotten away from hand drawn animation and they should do more of it, I loved the princess and the frog.

I enjoyed The Princess and the Frog too, though I felt that it was made with the crew being too conscious of the fact that it was being done in hand-drawn animation. I mean, yeah, the animation is good, but they try to draw too much attention to that. With previous films, it was always "This is our film, we made it in hand-drawn animation." With TPATF, it was more like "We're doing hand-drawn animation again!!! Oh, and it's called The Princess and the Frog." The creative team could have focused more on developing the characters better and less on the whizz-bang wham-bam thank-you-ma'am animation.

Escapay said it best. I believe there is room for both techniques as long as they are done right and the stories are decent. It's kind of a shame how some animation fans are quick to dismiss CG simply because of the rut the animation is going through with CG films. Yeah, there have been many, many, MANY bad CG films that try too hard to be either like Pixar or DreamWorks, and they tarnish the name of good CG films. But really, CG is just a technique, not a storytelling method. Same with hand drawn animation. I mean, let's imagine that the Disney fab four were instead made today in CG rather than in the 90s. I am sure they would still be beloved by all because of how enchanting they are, not because they are CG.

The Little Mermaid would still be a delightful musical, Beauty and the Beast would still be hauntingly beautiful, Aladdin would still be hilarious and Lion King would be powerfully dramatic. All this talk about 2D animation being better is all nostalgia talk fueled further by disgruntled animators who couldn't accept the change (John K, I am looking at you).

Rather than just making CG or hand drawn films, they instead should just make a good movie, period.
